BASS HARBOR HEAD LIGHT - Maine

The Bass Harbor Head Light is perched atop a cliff along the rocky shoreline on the southern end of Mount Desert Island. It was established and first lit in 1858 and is still operational today. The tower is white cylindrical shaped and constructed of brick. It is connected to the wood framed lighthouse keeper’s quarters by a covered walkway.

The lighthouse and keeper’s quarters are located within Acadia National Park. The grounds are open to the public but the lighthouse tower and keeper’s house are not.
